What is Macro Photography?
Put simply, macro is close-up photography. Although technically speaking the term should only be applied to photos which have a 1:1 or closer magnification. In other words, it is the photography of subjects that are captured life-size or larger.
I love the amazing details you can find in these shots. When we want to we can find a whole other world, the world of the small. Its a very alien looking world to say the least but a beautiful one at that. I hope you enjoy these shots as much as I have.
The term “macro” is used very loosely and tends to mean any photographic situation where you get close to the subject. Real macro photography is where you are working around 1:1 ratio and closer thereby giving an image on film that is equal in size or larger than the subject being photographed. Or in simple words, Macro photography is close-up photography.
The joy about being a photographer is being able to capture life in a single image. Our eyes skim very briefly on facets of life but sometimes we fail to notice the intricacies that make the wonders of this world so remarkable. Simple things like looking at a bee settle onto a flower or looking at the rainbow spectrum in an insects eye, or even taking just a closer look at the human eye: the window to the soul. We walk around, not taking a moment to just enjoy this little bits of life.
Macro photography is the art of taking close-up pictures that reveal details which can’t be seen with the naked eye. For example, while we can see the fly on the wall, our eyes aren’t equipped to make out the fine details of the hairs on it’s face. This is where macro photography comes in. It gives us a glimpse into the world of the very small, which goes largely unnoticed by us as we hurriedly shuffle through our day.
Macro photography, simply put, is close-up photography. This usually requires a special lens that is optimized to focus sharply on a small area. What I love about macro photography is that it allows us see an entirely different world that is filled with an abundance of detail that usually goes unnoticed by the naked eye.
One of the most fascinating forms of photography is the art of capturing the littlest of things and revealing such minute details that are not visible by the naked eye, the art of macro photography. Some of the most popular and favorite subjects of photographers in taking macro shots are insects, droplets of rain, human eye, by which the details when captured are really extraordinary.
